After researching and contacting the design industry, we were to create a self promotional item to send out to design agencies in order to try and receive placements and gain experience in the industry. For my self promotional item I decided to go along the super hero theme; with me being the super hero. The comic tells the story of a mystery ‘Super Designer’ who has been spotted solving designer’s problems across the Greater Manchester area; everything from awkward clients to starving designers! To finish off the comic, the super hero’s true identity is revealed as ‘Miss Hannah Furnell’ (myself), and this is used to put across some of my personal information such as my contact details, qualities and skills (similar to a CV/ business card). The comic strips are then held together within an interesting fold out card design, which is titled ‘Hannah Saves The Day’.

Self Promotion – ‘Hannah Saves The Day’
20 MaySelf Promotion – Final Logo and CV
15 MayHere is my final logo and CV design. I chose to create my logo in a speech bubble to suggest communication (graphic communication) and used my whole name in the typeface ‘Paper Johnny Drei’ which is easily readable and clear. My CV design is also quite simplistic but a similar theme is carried through using coloured boxes for subtitles and the good use of white space.
Self Promotional Logo – Development and Final
15 AprAfter getting feedback on my first batch of logos, I decided to change the red speech bubble with a heart inside as it looked too much like a ‘red nose with a shine’ and ‘too cutesy’. I chose to just keep the speech bubble as it suggests communication (as I am studying Graphic Communication). Here are some of my logo developments and experimenting:
After a lot of logo developing and decisions, I decided to choose this as my final logo:

Self-Promotional Logo
31 MarToday I created a range of various self-promotional logos for our new self-promotional project – but I am still unsure on which one to go with. I quite like the italic ‘marketing script’ font used on some of the logos and may possibly choose one which includes this typeface. Any feedback would be appreciated! Thanks :)
NOTE: red has come out a lot brighter when uploaded online as a jpeg – but all files created as vectors in Illustrator.
