NMP – MOUf Music – Website Designs (Event & News Pages)

21 Apr

Here is the event page and news page for the MOUf website design. On each event is a share button (to share the event across social networking sites), buttons to say you’re going, maybe going or not going (all of which stick to the colour scheme, and would also post to social networking sites e.g. Hannah Furnell is attending Get People @ Deaf Institute) and a Facebook like button. On the News page there are also Facebook ‘like’ buttons which would share each news article on Facebook when liked.

NMP – MOUf Music – Website Designs (Band Pages)

20 Apr

Here are the ‘Band’ pages of the website. When clicking on this option in the navigation bar, a page is displayed with all Manchester bands from A-Z, which can be displayed as thumbnails or as a list. When clicking on one of the band names, you are taken to the ‘Band Profile’ of that band. This gives you a biography of the band, social networking/ website information, upcoming gigs, recent reviews, recent interviews, recent photos and fans following this band (this can be added to your favourites by pressing the star button on a band’s page and adding them to your ‘Favourites’).

Here are the Gallery pages to the website. The main page displays both pictures and videos; when clicking on one of the photos, the album is displayed through a lightbox. Similarly, the video also comes up in a lightbox and dims the background.

Here are the Interview pages of the website. When clicking on the ‘Interviews’ tab you would be taken to the main page displaying all interviews, these can be sorted by Most Recent, Band Name (Ascending) and Band Name (Descending). When clicking on one of the band thumbnails, you are then taken to that interview. This page displays questions and answers, a link to the band’s page and also social networking links. NMP – MOUf Music – Website Designs (Reviews Page)

17 Apr

Today I have been working on the ‘Reviews’ part of the website, which displays both gig reviews and CD/EP reviews. I decided to create the main Reviews page as two scroll down boxes as there would be many reviews from each section, I then added a ‘Sort By’ which would allow you to sort the results by: Most Recent, Top Rated, Band Name (Ascending) & Band Name (Descending). I also added a button which would allow you to look at the results as thumbnails or as a list. When hovering over the thumbnails, all with a picture would turn to a coloured thumbnail (with review name) and all those with a coloured thumbnail would turn to a photograph/ image. When clicking on a review you will be taken to a new page with this review on. This displays a large image with the text information, along with a link to the band’s page, social networking and ratings (Mouf and your own personal rating of the gig, CD or EP). Here are my designs (Logo still not finalised):

MOUf Music – Gig Photography

24 Feb

I was recently contacted by someone about a new company called ‘MOUf Music‘ that will be starting up in April, that specialise in reviewing and promoting the local music scene. They were looking for photographers and asked if I was interested in taking part, which I thought was a great opportunity! A great way to build up my portfolio, and great side-project. The site is due to launch on April 1st 2012, so keep an eye out! To get a taster, follow the Facebook group ‘MOUf Music‘.

Limitless Review

2 Apr

After seeing trailers of the recent film ‘Limitless’, it didn’t seem to catch my eye, but after seeing it in the cinema today, I was shocked at how good it was! Bradley Cooper stars as an unpublished writer trying to make a breakthrough in the public eye and failing miserably; and to make matters worse, he gets dumped by his girlfriend. But this all changes when he bumps into his ex-brother-in-law, once known as a drug dealer, but now claiming to be working in the medical side. He claims this tablet will not only let him access the 20% of the brain our bodies usually access, but all of it.

After a lot of debating he finally takes the pill and the effects set in fast. His brain clicks into gear and he is somehow able to access all the information he has ever read in a book, even from the smallest glance, and is he is able to write his book in one night, even learn a language in the space of one night! As the drug sets in, the camera makes everything brighter and contrasted, showing the effect of the drug on Cooper. Apart from the storyline, this was my other favourite aspect of the film; the camera techniques used to show that he had taken this amazing drug. A fish-eye effect is used when he first takes the drug and walks outside, showing close-ups of peoples faces and reactions, the drug also speeds him up to the point he can’t remember what happened; the camera pans in and keeps zooming as if he were walking through the city but in fast motion. Paths of light from the busy traffic speed past him, he sits down at his desk and letters fall from the roof; the words he could never find before he took the drug.

As the film goes on, you see the addiction set in and the effects the drug has on him. It is definitely worth the watch and is now up there in my favourite films along with ‘Fight Club’ and ‘Requiem For A Dream’, which it is very similar to. You can see the trailer for ‘Limitless’ below:
