Picnic Packaging Mock Up

7 Dec

Tonight I built my picnic packaging design, which would hold all of the cutlery, cups, cupcake stand etc for the tea party set. The design is still in early stages but this gives you an idea of how I would like my packaging to work; the birdcage opens up to reveal the cupcake stand, which holds all of the cutlery etc. for the tea set. I have also chosen to go with a vacuum flask rather than a tea-pot as it is suppose to be the ‘perfect picnic’, therefore you could set up this tea party anywhere and everywhere!

I also looked into picnic set packaging and clever ideas for picnics to inspire me for the M&S brief.

Food Packaging

8 Nov

I researched into nice food/ product packaging to inspire me if I was to choose the Graze brief. I think they would like to keep that organic look with all the natural treats they sell, but would like to stand out more. Here’s a few designs I liked:

Magma Calendar Packaging and Development

27 Oct

After creating my two-piece net for my calendar with instruction sheets, I realised I would need packaging to hold these and the Hangover Survival Calendar together. I also tried out a new design for my Calendar front page and inside pages which I think looks better than my original designs.

Elastic Band Packaging

8 Oct

On the way to Egypt, I decided to purchase the magazine ‘ArtBox’ (issue 016), which included a mixture of product design and other art projects; which I bought to inspire me for the new brief. Although not really a product design, but more of a packaging design, I loved this piece by Ric Bixter, a Graphic Design student of The University of Central Lancashire, Preston. The aim of this brief was to ‘Go into a pound shop and pick a seemingly uninteresting object and rebrand it, increasing the value and interest’, in which he has achieved greatly with this piece of design. The stronger and thicker the band, the more it effects the packaging. I like the typography and simplicity used which complete the design; a very clever and aesthetically pleasing design.

Lomography Fisheye Packaging

20 Aug

My wonderful boyfriend bought me this Lomography fish-eye camera for my birthday, I love it, but I also love the packaging it comes in! I love the typography used and illustrative style used with the contrasted colours. The camera is also held inside a plastic bubble, just like a fish-eye, which I thought was a clever use of packaging. I can’t wait to try out my camera and see the outcomes! I also got some Impossible Project film for my Polaroid Camera, results to come soon…

Clippers Tea Packaging

15 Mar

Being a student, there’s nothing better than freebies! Today I received some free samples of ‘Clipper’ Tea Bags from studentbeans.com and also loved the packaging of this product; designed by UK design agencyBig Fish‘. I love how this product also has that organic look and feel about it and love the typography and layout used. And you can’t beat a good cup’a tea!

Bear Fruit Packaging

13 Mar

Today I bought a packet of We Are Bear ‘Bear Fruit’ nibbles purely just because of the design of the packaging (designed by B&B). I love how simplistic but effective the design is and even the feel of the packaging; it has a very natural and organic look to it. Can’t say I was too keen on the dried up fruit inside the packet but it’s funny what packaging can do to make you want to buy a product!
