Tried using my speedlite 430EXII on my shot today, if anything I think it bleaches out most of the detail and makes the photograph look too over exposed. I think i’ll stick to the natural ambient light…

I’m quite disappointed with this shot as it’s not in focus, I was in a rush to get to a photoshoot me and my sister had in Manchester (a Christmas present off the mother), therefore I didn’t quite get it in focus on my face. This is the problem with working alone using manual focus and a wireless remote, the camera doesn’t automatically focus to my face, which is quite annoying… Meanwhile, I need to get a move on with other aspects of the project, I have been ill for the past few days and haven’t been able to concentrate, so I need to get a move on…

You may notice that some of my documentary photographs are quite dark. I haven’t set a set time to take the photograph each day because of other plans each day, therefore sometimes I only get chance to do it quite late when it’s beginning to go dark. This may be a good thing, to try out pictures at different times of the day; possibly even at night…

NMP Project – Day 11 & Theme Ideas & Outcomes

After a seminar last week we talked about thinking about other themes in which I could document myself doing, rather than just the current pictures I have been taking, in which I stand in the same position, in the same clothes outside whilst the weather changes around me. Here are some theme ideas I believe I could add to my self-documentary photography:

- Creating a 3D logo from the chosen project name – documenting me building the logo and the final outcome
- Me in public places – e.g. pictures of me in the city/ busy atmospheres, with people around me, also documenting their reactions
- The places I visit – not actually including me in the photos, but interesting things I come across from the places I visit
- Every meal I sit down for – documenting the things I eat and where I eat
- At work – A picture of me at work with people surrounding me (every sunday)
- My feet – different shoes, different places (may make a good stop motion video with feet walking but floors changing)
- Every time I drive – different surroundings depending on where I am
- Mobile pictures – Instragram/ Webstagram, photos on the move
- Laptop webcam – every time I use my laptop
- Film photos – photos taken with Lomography camera, could also include negatives and multiple exposures
- My life in black and white – a selection of self documenting photos shot in black and white

Possible Outcomes:

- Magazine including all self-documenting photography
- Website/ Blog which would be updated as project goes on
- Motion/ Selection of stop motion pieces
- 3D logo outcome

NMP Project – Day 10

The snow is almost gone, finally, starting to see a bit of greenery! Tonight I need to think of some more themes on what self-portrait documenting photos I can take alongside this idea of taking photographs of myself stood in the same position outside and the weather changing around me. I need to carry out more themes and start taking more photographs!
